Dana Gioia, the poet laureate of California, discusses his time as director of the National Endowment for the Arts. He reflects on initiatives like honoring jazz legends, bringing free Shakespeare performances to every state in the nation, equipping veterans with creative writing, and more.
He was interviewed by Mako Fujimura, the director of the Culture Care initiative at the Brehm Center for Worship, Theology, and the Arts, and the interview was part of an event sponsored by Fuller Seminary’s Brehm Center that took place in Pasadena, California, in April 2016.
